STAR URJA- BAGUBAI GODE KHODALA MOKHADA

Bereft of any basic education and any other skill, prevailing unconscious biases, low confidence, unending maternal duties, tribal women with no choice left, migrate to nearby urban centres along with their husbands to work as unskilled labour on construction sites. Life was going on until Bagubai’s husband succumbed to the tough life and became paralytic.

Her only child- her daughter was happily married and lived in the next village. Moved by her parents' condition, her daughter brought her parents home. Bagubai understood that it was the most practical thing to do but she was feeling extremely helpless to burden her. She wanted to contribute, help her daughter financially.

She came to the Raah Foundation, pleading with them to enrol her in the project. She had nothing to contribute, couldn’t use her daughter’s house for any activity, hence started her business from a bench. Determined, she toiled and worked hard and today, has a shop with a refrigerator and earns over Rs. 6000 to 10000 per month. She opens her shop at 7 am and shuts only at 10 pm. Diligently, she converts any customer inquiry into an income opportunity. She has become a role model for other women and has already inspired a few of them.
